The Problem with Identifying as a “Non-Denominational” Church

May 2, 2018 by Allen Nelson IV

There is a trend that’s been around a few decades now about having a “non-denominational” church. I think I first consciously remember the terminology when I had a friend in 9th grade tell me he went to a “NonDom” church. I was not savvy to the jargon and he had to explain to me that […]

Daniel’s Defiance

“When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.” – Daniel 6:10 This article is not […]

Do ALL Things Without Complaining?

My wife posted the quote below on Facebook in regard to complaining: If you are a sovereigntist, or one who believes in the absolute sovereignty of our God, and you gripe or complain about your circumstances, you’re being a hypocrite; for you demonstrate, with your words and by your actions, that you don’t actually trust […]

The Bible is Christianity — 2 Peter 1:19 and Frank Turek’s View of Inerrancy

Frank Turek wrote the other day that “Christianity would still be true even if the Bible [were] never written.” He goes on to clarify that the specific topic is having an inerrant Bible. But some of us erroneously think that Christian beliefs cannot be sustained unless the Bible is without error.  That would mean that the Christian […]

Children’s Book Review: Pause Power

The key for Gabe is to use his “pause power” when he is upset. By pausing and thinking through his next choice, Gabe is able to make better choices. Basically, the book teaches children to pause before acting out on anger and to take deep breaths or count. It falls short of teaching children to trust God and to avoid sin for the sake of righteousness, so it won’t be sufficient for a Christian home, but the ideas presented are not bad, especially the tips for parents to help you teach your child to stay calm.

How I Met George

The Introduction In early 2016, my friend Ricky Gantz of G220 Radio asked me if I would like to talk on his radio show about whether a person should continue to do evangelism if their local church tells them not to. It was a casual conversation with a guy named George Alvarado whom I had […]
