Podcast: Play in new window | Download

Michael interviews Dr. Dustin Benge of Southern Seminary about the two sermons he gave at the 2019 Cruciform Conference concerning the cruciform gospel. Dustin preached from Titus 3 and posed 4 questions to consider:

  • Where does a cruciform gospel start?
  • What does a cruciform gospel exalt?
  • What is the message of a cruciform gospel?
  • And to what or to whom does a cruciform gospel point?

In this interview, Dr. Benge and Michael discuss many details of our salvation, springboarding from sermon points in Dustin’s sermons. You will also hear about his books and other writings he has done, including his doctorate in Biblical Spirituality.

Recent Racist Rhetoric Reflections

Hot Take My take on the recent rhetoric about race. There really is evil in the world in the form of racism. Like abortion, some Christians are on the front lines fighting that evil as the outworking of their faith in Christ. This is a good thing. Some Christians are victims‪ of racism as well. […]

Are We Against Santa or For Truth?

“Do you know what your daughter did?” my in-laws asked me. They were clearly quite concerned and disappointed in her. Knowing my daughter’s behavioral issues, I readied myself for the worst. “She told her cousins Santa Claus isn’t real,” they said. Phew! I breathed a sigh of relief. My daughter hadn’t done anything wrong. In […]

Having just finished a seven-year career in the military back in 2014 before moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to attend Dallas Seminary full time, I admit that I had been deprived of a great number of life experiences that Americans otherwise get between the ages of 22 and 29. One quite notable example is […]

Truths on Suffering – Part 1

Roman 8 is perhaps one of the greatest chapters in the whole Bible. Derek Thomas notes, “No chapter of Scripture reaches the same sustained levels or covers the same ground as Romans 8. It is a description of the Christian life from death to life, from justification to glorification, from trial and suffering to the […]

On Dirty Faces and Pop-Tart Guns

We noticed the strangest thing when our middle son was 6 years old playing baseball. Now, little boys playing baseball are always going to get dirty, but there seemed to be something exceptionally dirty about our son. My wife observed it first. “I think Caleb is rubbing dirt on his face.” “No way! He’s just […]
