This is an invitation. You are reading this because someone at ThingsAbove.Us (TAU) is inviting you to consider joining our team.
Before you can do that, please note a few things:
- This site is generally a 1689 Reformed Baptist site. That doesn’t mean we will not publish theology to the contrary, but if you aren’t a “1689er” or at least open to it, you might not be comfortable here. That’s ok and it doesn’t mean you cannot participate.
- This is a blog, but we would love to do podcasts and/or YouTube videos and use whatever media makes sense to spread God’s Word.
- If you received this invite, it’s because someone on the team already thinks you are a good fit and qualified, (or at least on the right trajectory). Now, the question is, would you want to join us?
- I suggest reading the attribution policy of this site as it will affect if you want to join. Do you desire to freely give what was given to you? We will never monetize nor sell ads.
- Maybe you aren’t a writer or podcaster, but you like doing twitter marketing or touching up a website. We always need help with those things too.
- This blog was active for years with almost 5 posts a week. Covid separated some guys and many posts were removed. We’ve always had a good reputation for being pastoral and truthful without unnecessarily offensive. We never gained a high number of readers, but we ministered to those God gave us and we used this ministry to hone our own skills writing and teaching. It is ok if it stays small and it’s ok if it gets big. God will handle the numbers and our pride.
- Writing and teaching is a growing process. You should be open to internal criticism to improve your writing and speaking.
Again, you are reading this because someone (probably Michael) already knows you would be a great addition to the team. So consider what type of commitment you are even ready for. Maybe now isn’t a good time. I would say if you can commit to an hour a week of writing what’s on your mind or what you are already studying that would be a good minimum. Many of the posts here were just copy and pastes of facebook posts or signal messages I made responding to a particular topic, then touched up for a blog post.
I do think this website can be a great place where good men can promote good doctrine. I think with some effort we can reach more people than we have reached with no marketing. I’m open to ideas to improve it all and I’d love to get back to writing articles with a team again and hosting podcast discussions, etc.
In Christian Love,
Michael (the only person really here right now). Maybe we’ll add your name next.
